Newent is a historic market town in the Forest of Dean district of Gloucestershire, about seven and a half miles north-west of Gloucester, and the natural hub for businesses serving the surrounding villages. Its streets are lined with independent shops, cafés and traders gathered around the timber-framed Market House, built in 1668, while Newent Lake and its landscaped park lie just a short stroll from the town centre.
Today Newent has the everyday services you would expect of a small market town, including a post office, convenience stores, a health food shop, independent cafés such as the Runcible Spoon, and pubs including the Black Dog, the Kings Arms and the Red Lion, along with The George hotel.
