Kilcot is a scattered hamlet roughly two miles west of Newent, in the parish of Gorsley and Kilcot, which was created from part of Newent parish in 2000. Many of its cottages began as encroachments on Gorsley common, and the early 19th-century Kilcot Inn stands on the road between Newent and Ross. The name has appeared in records, in various spellings, since at least 1283.
The Kilcot Inn remains a popular stop for food and drink on the road between Newent and Ross, and the hamlet shares its parish, primary school and village hall with neighbouring Gorsley, just up the road.
